Hi everybody
Last year, I have sold out a Basildon made 399 ES and purchased a 5000 h 6280 Massey Ferguson. Now, 300 h later, I find two troubles and ask your help.
1. The range stick doesn't work anymore. It began a few months ago and at the beginning it used to work early in the morning when engine and trans oil cold. Nowadays it never change from Hi (hair) to low range.
¿Could be the "famous" switch? ¿Whay has she the other one, up right linked with blue wire?

2. More recently, a light in the dashboard showing "filter blocage". Changed filter and at the beginning ok but one hour ago, light again. Steering, Dynashift, etc perfect... ¿Could be the sensor? Can anyone tell me anything? Thank you very much

The hi lo button will only operate if gear lever is in neutral. The red sensor shown below makes sure that it is, and they do go wrong.

you can bypass the sensor by trying a paperclip in the connector to join the two wires together to complete the circuit.

The hi lo system is operated by the selenoid indicated here

If your struggling, as a tempory fix you could run a line from the jack plug in the cab to this selenoid it will then operate in low, simply remove jack plug for high.

*** Always have the transmission in neutral when attempting to change range.***

First of all, thank you very much both!
In fact, the first owner told me that the brakes have been already refurbish, one year ago, so I presume they're ok. Could fix it up change the trans oil? Because this small filter is quite expensive and I don't like change it again before being sure that it won't get blocked again.

Respecting de HAre-tortoise, my 1999 6280 doesn't have the green botton on the stick but you have to push it right to make de change. What I think is that in my case, your red cap switch is the one I circle in orange. But I don't understand what the blue circled is for.

In other words, Which one should I replace?

The hi low switch on your tractor will be in same position as the red switch in the photo but yours will be black. Also I would change filter sensor on the filter head . The auction filter switch can also bring that light on so try un plugging that first. It's the big yellow single wire one on the rh rear side cover above the suction filter

Thank you very much again.
I've checked the switch circled in green and it doesn't work. But I'm unable to remove it. How can I do it?

Updating this mistery:
Today, unplugging the external switch (under the inox steel plate) and the range change work fine again. I guess though Which is that sensor or switch for?
