7530 engine rebuild and improvements :-)

You need to get an R series now, remove all the emission rubbish, then I can copy.:) (y)

Won't happen for a while, having a week giving the 75 a 10k hour service new mudguards and rust proofing the cab, brakes, front crank seal etc etc etc

If you shorten the lower pipe from the cooler (I cut mine with the recip as I'm connecting back onto it with a silicone tube) it just comes out the back in one piece,I'm not sure who told me the manifold and turbo had to be removed to get it off.:banghead:View attachment 277844Best place for it!

I hope this leaking is the cause of my loss of coolant, will be doing some :scratchhead: if it doesn't stop dropping.

My 75 is loosing coolant again, any chance it could be the charge cooler?

Old Deere suddenly began drinking coolant when preparing seedbed for osr a few weeks ago.

The usual failure, leaking between 5&6 and leaking from 6 to a water channel.

Now I fitted a steel gasket from a Claas, looks much better than the deere gasket.

The gasket has a John Deere number on it but cannot be found on deere parts.

they say the claas gasket makes a job of them.
i done a 4 cyl one not so long ago but the claas gasket isnt available for them.
the gasket had leaked twice so when i got to it the tops of the liners were scuppered so they had to be replaced and seeing since the pistons were matched and nearly cheaper than liners on their own she had to get them too and wee bearings when i was that far and new bolts to boot..
a dear job...
claas will sell the gasket but the dealer said by right it comes in a kit form and that's what claas recommend/do if doing it themselves, he talked about spacers under the liners that also came in the kit.
but he also said they sell plenty of gaskets on their own.

is that a qtp one you got thats a oem one or just a generic pic.

Just been in the guts of my 6930, engine started tapping the vanes of the variable vane turbo decided to disintegrate and end up squashed in the tops of pistons. Had to fit new pistons and turbo just got it running again tonight. Only 3750 hours

Got I from a local Claas dealer, they say they never had any troubles after fitting the steel gasket.
The qtp picture is just to show the gasket. Forgot to take pictures as we were in a hurry to get the tractor running in the middle of harvest and drilling time.
Only took 36 hours from break down until running again. Could have done it faster but waited a day for all the orings and gaskets for the fuel and coolant system to arrive.

But still a lot faster and cheaper than what the John Deere dealer could offer. They needed a full week, and approximately 4000 euro. We did it for around 2000. [emoji106]

That JD NR on the gasket is interesting.

Is the QTP one spurious or the genuine article available from Claas (with the JD part no. on it) I wonder?

Those QTP boys in Ireland have their finger on the pulse. They're the only people willing to sell you a complete reman Fendt vario, with a longer warranty than AGCO themselves.

Not so good @Rs chunk thats a bit early in life to be doing up an engine, at least you could do the repair yourself though makes it a bit lighter in the price department.

It's surprising what gets into engines when something fails, any chance of pics of the pistons? All that stuff had to go through the inter cooler .
@Rs chunk
You would think it would have to go through intake but it either fell back down from the turbo into the head and fell through open exhaust valves or the egr valve let it through. Intercooler was clean and damage was in the exhaust housing. Strange and pretty unlucky most variable turbos just seized up the vanes and put code up on computer mine didn't.

Wow. Did you inspect egr cooler for debris?
Yeh had the airline up it all that came out was some soot. Once I do a bit of work with it I'm going to get remap done by derv doctor and do away with egr and egr cooler. Damn egr valves the inlet side of the head looks the same as the outlet with black soot.

Yip pretty shocking considering the thousands of hours that engines are capable of nowadays problem is the modern technology they are fitting to them. It's not tried and proven. The variable geometry turbo is a know problem as you get warranty on it up to 7 year old and depending on the hours John Deere gives a percentage offa new one. New turbo is around £1300 we got 40% off but dealer had to come fit it once I had put engine back together If it wasn't for the discount I would have bought derv doctors kit to replace it with a normal turbo it's £1500 comes with new manifold and other bits and then you have to get the remap done aswell

Does the derv doctor do a replacement for the variable geometry turbo my 6920 never had a turbo on it in 9000 hours
