table 4.1 very telling viz sheep meat.....uk production 292k tonnes.......consumption 291k t.....exports 73k t...imports 72k t........all govt has to do is put tarriffs on imported lamb and we are ok and also better for environment....less co2 emitted via transport

and how mad environmentally is it to export 73k t to just go and import it straight back

Not just food but in general I think the biggest environmental win all governments globally can get is to stop any imports / exports that are avoidable
