Im really not that keen on the look of the new 7s and 8s, they look so gimicky now! Although the 8RX kind of gets away with it due to the smart looking track system. Its a good job MF came out with the even more gawdy 8S to take the conversation away from the appearance of the Deeres :ROFLMAO: ...................I much prefer the last 8R series they were grand machines, and the pick of the current Deere bunch has to be the 6250R, although they will probably get spoiled at the next makeover judging by the new 7s and 8s. Guess their will be a raft of new tractors coming out soon in the autumn.

Revamped 6R about to appear. Couple new models in the line up too.

I am even more confused now than when I started!!! 7r off the list, 7930 dodgy, NH 7.270 a possibility, case puma 230?? Are these heavy enough for proper draught work?? What about a Fergie 7626?? Must be the vario one I’m told??
7930 too old now and small engine.

7r no no no.

8245r??. 8s still get the job done. If it has hours on it make sure its got the trans hydro update done.

Other brands your call i don't know enough..

I’m adviced to either buy a 6r, which i’m not too fond of, or buy a small 8r, which is what i’m recommended the most. Or swap to a new colour.

I'm not really up with the newer models but "proper draft work" would be JD 8000 series, Case IH Magnums, NH T 8's, Fendt 9's wouldn't they?

Run a JD 7270 r here with e23 gearbox has been reliable and very comfortable tractor to drive . Very versatile can’t fault it yet .

You find the cab suspension seems to drop every gear change??. I find getting thru 23 gears fairly painful. Double shifting and all it seem to take forever to get them done.

No cab suspension got the Active seat instead which is good have driven one with cab suspension which wasn’t as smooth
Tend to use Auto on the road but is slow up to about 18 then flys Manual in field work gear change smooth under load

This market seems to get cab suspension. Active seat is 💯 better.

I totally agree, but lots of small fields and only 150ha. I like the power to weight ratio of a 7 series. How much more would an 8 series weigh??
I'm guessing only a few hours a year then ?

The ones 8m on about being trouble are frontline tractors on 1500ha farms so don't get an easy life .

Our 7930 was bought with 6000 hrs ish on it's now basically a self propelled grain drill only doing a couple of hundred hours a year living a fairly charmed life 🤣 it's not without it's little niggles but hopefully will go on for a few more years yet .

I think I'd take a chance on a JD if I was you but make sure it's an autopower

Was on a 7930AP for a while, only problem was viscous fan coupling.
Liked it a lot.
