I’ve got a Deutz 4/50 with an 8 spline PTO shaft (think it was originally sold to the East European market ?) . Does anyone know where I might buy an 8 spline female to 6 spline (standard 6 spline) adaptor ?

For heavy, permanent use I would consider changing the PTO shaft. At least for many other tractor brands pretty simple to swap and not very expensive.
Mmmm…… just had a look on some other thread (on this forum) about changing/replacing a PTO shaft. Nearly all mention clutch out, etc., admittedly not specific to a Deutz.

Generally held in with a snap ring,literally a couple of minutes to swap using some pliers.

A quick Google shows only AliExpress that sells an 8 to six spline adapter.
Better off if possible to swap the shaft on the tractor.
put a picture up of your current pto stub,it will be obvious if it has a snap ring.

yes, not sure I want to go down the Chinese route so am exploring a replacement output shaft on the tractor

Yes it will be job done once job done. Also will probably increase the value of the tractor somewhat.

Why not undo those 4 Allen head bolts and see if the PTO stub will withdraw ? Park the tractor nose down hill in case oil runs out.
