You'll gain a bit from opening the pump up maybe 10hp and a lot of smoke. A turbo is the only real way of getting a useful amount of extra power. I used drive on and off back in the day for a contractor that ran 8210's and he used give them a tweak at silage time but it would dim the sun going up hills with the plume that rose over them. I have to say I'd very happily drive one again.

Just double check the fuel and air filters before going for a bolt on modification. Not sure we should be looking for more on a "classic machinery" thread, there's a contradiction there somewhere. Manufacturers can de-rate with the air box, but most use the injector pump as mentioned.

Different springs on the governers in the injector pump would be another option, the Ford 66 had a few different tension of spring available. If I remember correctly the tighter the springs the faster the governors would open up the pump, when you hit a hill. And no one would ever know .......

This bigger inline Bosch pump the governor springs can be adjusted, on the smaller pumps, the governor springs are changed.

Ive got a New Holland TL100 that I wouldn't mind squeezing a few extra ponies out of too. It's as flat as a witch's tit.
Too much generalisation!
