885XL unloader/flow control valve

Been having some issues with 3 point linkage on this tractor, will raise and lower but need to use draft lever as well as position lever. When lowering it holds for a few seconds and then releases. Had to have seat out as broken and thought I'd have a look at unloader valve. Seems ok but strange spiral in flow port - is this standard? Lift has never been good but tractor has mainly been used for pto work and log splitting.

Took valve out and seems ok but interesting coil? in flow port, presume its supposed to be there although looks like seat and panel have been out before due to missing studs.

Anyone seen this coil thing before?

Could you show a bit more on the photo please ? Expand to show more so I can see exactly where the spiral pin is fitted.
That's what it is, a spiral pin, similar to a roll pin but sometimes used as a restrictor.

From your description I'm not entirely sure the fault is in the unloader valve.

Sorry for delay in responding other more pressing jobs came to the fore.

Attached is photo showing spiral pin and yes looks definitely like oe fit as flow reducer.

Also I was going to check under the cover on top of housing while seat was out that settings are correct for lift arms but there is a flat bar and rod in front of it which prevent access can't see how to remove easily and don't want to undo something and can't refit it!

The little plate that gives access to the hydraulic top cover is held on with 4 bolts.
One of those bolts has a slot in it, can't remember which one, sorry.
But with that plate off you can see the linkage operating the draft spool, or if any linkage is loose.

That spiral pin looks to be correct by the way.

Thanks for that - found one of your other replies on another post saying to operate auxiliary valve with control levers forward and see if position control worked then - seemed to do something as now position control lever is effective on its own.
Regarding the cover plate need to move pto linkage shaft out of the way to get at set screw. Tomorrows job!

Thanks again.

If the arms raise when you pull up the auxiliary valve lever ( blow the RV ) with the position lever up the fault is usually in the unloader valve block.

One check you could try before stripping anything else.
On the back of the unloader valve there's a big bung, 1-1/2 af spanner size.
With the engine running, draft lever down, position lever up, slacken that big bung a turn or two, if the arms lift the fault is in there.
