What kind of hp would be required to pull a 8m carrier tool for light chitting work or cover crop establishment? Generally flat terrain with a mix of loam and clay soils.

Pull a 5 metre proforge inverta normally with my 155 hp 7710 and on stubble I’ve been up to 14mph which is too fast but doable.normally run 7/8 mph on stubble and a bit less on ploughed land.tried it on my smaller 6620 and it’s still happy at 7/8 mph on stubble but the machine kills the tractor on ploughed land and all without duals.i reckon 200/250 woukd be plenty for an 8 metre carrier.id have no worry about pulling 6metres on stubble with either of my tractors.got a few slopes and some stiffish land too

If you do not have excess horsepower buy a narrower machine and run it faster instead. Speed is how you cover the ground with these rather than width.

As Brisel says if you are working down ploughed ground with a carrier look out.

That kind of power would not go wanting on a carrier on some dirt I can think of.
We have 260 hp available and pull a customers 5mt carrier for them on heavy land just doing a chit find the machine does a good job at 12 kph and it can pull the tractor down so I’m assuming that a 8mt to cover the ground and do a good job will need that power on heavy ground
I think they would have power needed per mt on their website
