We are looking for an 8T digger for around £20k.
What would you recommend higher hour mainstream makes - which are best? Or have seen a 2016 Liugong with 2000 hours for £20k - are they any good?

We have a 2001 Volvo EC70 , I think they are a rebadged Pel-Job .
Really nice machine with plenty of power . Ours spends most of its time on a 2.5M weed basket or a timber grab feeding our chipper . No major problems to think of . 7-8 ton machines are really hard to find second hand .

I have never dealt with them but Proctor plant sales in driffield usually have a reasonable selection of diggers in that size to suit varying budgets.

Really handy size as you can move them relatively easy and not too big to work inside buildings / close to buildings.

Yes that’s the problem I am finding hence thinking about something like Liugong

Crikey they’re way cheaper at his place than others we’ve been looking at like for like!? Know anyone who has dealt with him?

I suspect the cheaper ones have serious hours as they aren't listed in the adds, but depending on what you are looking for that might not be an issue. I haven't dealt with them or know anyone who has but they have been around for quite a while and the stock varies. I was watching their site before I bought mine and thats probably over a year since I first came across them.

Kubota get a reasonable reputation, would you rate a TB175 above a KX080 ?

I have a TB175 and really like it but never used a KX080
8ton Kubota are a real let down compared to the smaller ones. Have never drive a TB175 but the newer 290s aren’t a nice machine, really don’t rate them.

@Benr for your budget I would try and get an EX60-5 or ZX70. They are a scaled down 12t, where as your TB175 etc are just a 5t made bigger. Although the swing boom is a handy job for cleaning sheughs etc but for digging power and stability the mono boom is a far better job.

here’s an example, 6341 hours. We bought ours in April 2016 with 5200 hours for £15,500, approaching 10k hours now and would easily get what we paid. Resale is very strong with older hitachi. No major repairs either, few burst pipes an exhaust and a starter is all it’s needed apart from servicing
