The MF595 was a bit if a dog - 4 clutches in 1600 hrs . To be fair, MF and P&B stood all the parts and labour but it was the last Massey we ever bought.
Not any more used to do the hay for the Highland cattle Durham School used to keep.
Is your daughter at Durham University?
Your 3690 sounded just like oursView attachment 655176 View attachment 655178 View attachment 655182 View attachment 655184
Found a few pics from the late '90s.
First trip out for the carier drill and the plough.
The 3690 was the first Massey we had bought since a 65 and after the trouble it caused will be the last for a while! Good tractor when it was going though.
That was the second one. The first one had a thrust washer missed out when they put the diff together and they swapped the tractor after a few months. I think I killed the second one with that plough as it takes a bit of pulling. In the end it sheared all bar one of the bolts holding the crown wheel onto the diff.Your 3690 sounded just like ours

Was that a wet or dry twin plate clutch. Sold our 3670 last year because my knee couldn't cope with the heavy clutchWe had the very same problem. A 3.5m shakerator, banks and some stiffish ground was the culprit. MF paid out the first couple of times but some interesting noises from the gearbox meant it was quickly traded. 4000hrs and worth 8k
Oh and it had a horribly twitchy clutch and bugger all brakes
