Mate worked in the shipyard & this fella worked with him always took a pint of milk in with him, then someone noticed he always took it home with him again. So one night he got stopped at the gate & turned out to be full of white paint....had been going on years & everything at home was painted white.
Harland & Wolff, the thieving and wastage out of that place was legendary. Half the terraced houses in Belfast were undercoated with red lead. Of an afternoon the welders used to lower full Oxygen bottles into the Lagan on their sides in lifting slings just below the surface. They would then take bets on how far out the lough it would go before pointing it seaward and knocking the Brass end off with a swipe of a lump hammer. Bloody things went like torpedoes, bottom of lough is littered with thousands of them.

I'd say they should be ok. I'll measure the diameter when I next pass it and let you know what size mine are. You could have had them but you are a bit far to come and pick them up!

Thank's for the offer, if you see a Southern Ireland reg car with a trailer driving by looking lost you'll know who it is:ROFLMAO:
Another option I have is to make it so that it could be moved with a pallet roller but the bigger wheels might make it easier to move around.

Different task this weekend. The motor on my honey extractor burnt out last year when a frame broke and jammed the cage. That motor was one savaged from a treadmill and driven by a belt.
The new motor I got from Amazon, I’ve decided to mount direct into the shaft using a small flexible coupling.

The coupling arrived the wrong size so I had to bore it out. I couldn’t get the correct size so went for one size down knowing I’d have to bore it. The motor came with a gearbox and speed control max speed is 280 rpm.

I had to make a new brass Bush for the top end of the shaft because when using it with the belt it wore in the one side due to the belt tension.

Had a mishap while trying to pick a big stone out of the trailer with the digger. I hadn’t noticed one of the toes had caught the side!

Application of brute force wasn’t doing much good. I tried squeezing with a vice which pulled in some of it, so I welded it in place to keep it there.

I was kind of stuck thinking I’d have to go and visit somebody with a gas torch to heat it when I decided maybe the machine that deformed it might put it back in place. I made up a spacer piece from a bit of RSJ and parked the trailer right against the gable end of the shed. Then dropped the bucket off and pushed it with the hitch on the digger. Gavebit a final panel beating with a big hammer and welded it in place. Might get some paint tomorrow but maybe not!

That's the way I try to fix things, you know how the damage got done so try to apply an opposite force to put it straight. Lost track of the number of bent things that I have straightened with the Tirfor winch anchored to the base of a building RSJ, with the help of a variable force adjuster (sledgehammer). Very satisfying when it works well.

Bonnet hinge on my jxu gave up the ghost on Thursday. I was quoted £160 for the whole assembly and £60 for the link that broke
