So recently appointed deputy president of the NFU Tom Bradshaw who recent was tasked in leading a ”independant” NFU consultation into Red Tractor has been appointed to the Red Tractor board

it’s almost buying believe this, the conflict of interest is huge, frankly it’s corrupt

the timing is interesting as well, let’s get those NFU “elections“ out the way first hey !

Ever mind cancelling your membership……………..NFU members shoukd be dumping trailer loads of FYM at the doors of Stoneligh now

When I last spoke to Tom, he said he thought Red Tractor was too onerous or combinable crops. This was at Croptec last year. Maybe Tom is going to fix it from the inside. We are constantly told, that is the way to do it.

I expect to see Red Tractor light, for grains shortly then. To advance the scheme.... Or maybe nothing will change and Tom will just get paid more. We will see.

So NFU Tom gets Blenkirons old job and Blenkinron gets a NFU job

anyone joining the dots here ?

That is incorrect Clive, the position on the Board is not Blenkirons.
Tom has this position as part of his remit holding RT in his portfolio as NFU Deputy President. Stuart Roberts previously held the role. Prior to that Batters held the position and we fought to get her to drop it as it seemed a serious conflict of interest that the President was on RT board. You could argue similar for the other office holders but NFU have so much invested in it that they get a Board slot. Benefit or consequences of that can be argued both ways.
Despite considerable ill feeling by a great many (ordianary) NFU members to RT the great and good refuse to see, acknowledge or change it. What little they are doing is tinkering at the edges.

The worst thing about the NFU and RT is that the NFU won't come out and make an official statement on why they think RT is so vital and at the same time address the issues such as imported animal feed and imported grains being used to make animal feed and human food such as bread. This is why the NFU are loosing farmers because they won't say anything.

So who actually are the individuals at the top, who have evidently made their positions on RT unassailable, and who are impervious to the criticism of the members?
I still think NFU is generally both a force for good and the only unified voice that farmers will ever present to Govt.
Their nanny knows best stance on RT is wearing thin though.

Still seems a lot like musical chairs

if the NFU president being on the RT is an conflict of interest accepted why is the Vice President any different

Tom is also lead of a industry working group into Red Tractor ………. That’s an even greater conflict of interest, how an that possibly we ok in anyones definition of independence?

my remark re Blenky is it’s all a big merry go around really isn’t it, despite being disgraced at RT the NFU find him another cozy role no doubt in return for he resignation

closed shop, same few faces, nearly all NFU linked on all the boards and committees all agreeing with each other and giving each other jobs on other boards etc …………. And if anyone says “make chage from within”. I will bloody scream !!! …………… no one who is not on message is allowed “within” anything in this corrupt industry

Stuart Roberts had pledged to make some considerable reforms of RT this year.

Did he do that knowing he wouldn't be around to worry about it or was he pushed before he could?

Rather ironically, I answered a telephone survey about NFU this morning and left the guy asking the questions in no doubt as to everything that is wrong with the NFU.
As soon as I mention Red Tractor, there was an audible groan him as if to say “On no, not another one”.

However, I do think we ought to give Tom a chance to rectify the wrongs within RT before we pass judgement. There could be a lot worse than him to at least try to do so [before telling them to shove it where the sun don’t shine].

Why give him a chance? As far as I can see they all want to push forwards with more hoops etc when they know full well farmers don't want it nor do they need it. If he's not voicing publicly how he's going to improve the situation you can guarantee it won't get any more sensible.

Sorry, life's too short for 'give him a chance'

I'll believe that when I see it.

I have absolutely no faith in any of them.

All I will say is that they have got themselves in a very favourable position where they get lots of money for telling lies.

I don’t!!!! He was supposed to be sorting out costs for imported tests re milling etc, not heard a peep. Gone and joined the utter scum that are RT.
As a farmer I actually detest the NFU with a passion. They do completely feck all for the average farmer and I am almost at the point of calling them scum too.
