The field had been performing badly so we sorted out the compaction by deep sub-soiling. Then used an Aitchison to put in 55% Likoloss WW and Contea Crimson clover at 45% at 32K per Hc. drilled on 04-10-12

Your crops look excellent and thank you for sharing the photos.

Have you added any rear harrow on the drill?

Like do you have to do anything to close the slots after drilling?
No, just got the chain it came with.
No, the T boot works by opening the T shaped slot and crumb falling in on top of the seed. Shut the gate then. Well spray and fert obviously.

Which is the one areas the T boot falls down, drilling into heavy wet clay doesn't work that well! :)

I only did it, because I need to show I had attempted to drill some seeds for a scheme!! Poor emergence was the order of the day... as expected!

Do you need fungicides in the Limousin?? Thought it would be too hot and dry!

I find just the chain being dragged seems to do just fine at covering, I will roll sometimes to preserve a bit of moisture and put stones under, but not sure really how much good it does...

High speed (+8KPH) can generate quite a bit of loose soil in drier conditions, almost too much for smaller seeds as they get too much cover! @le bon paysan had warned me about this, and it is something to be aware of for some crops. No odds for cereals though.

Might use 1 just before ear emergence, but not used 1 this year.
