A plea to tractor drivers.

Who likes those dayglow body warmers that horse riders wear? The type where, at a glance, they appear to be imitating a police officer, with the word POLITE written across them.

Fecking things.
Currently a test case going through the courts. Looking like anyone wearing them will be deemed trying to “impersonate” and therefore will be arrested and dealt with.

And cyclists were going back and to to work, not going around dressed in Lycra ,pretending it’s the Tour de France. The road from Shrewsbury to Ellesmere has now been designated a cycle route, so hordes of them are holding up traffic as it’s a windey road at the best of times.

The Farming group don't pay much now do they? :D

Depends how much you value the hedges being cut that would
otherwise obscure the highway:)

Actually dying young and suddenly is what saves the health service a fortune. How much have you cost compared to the rest of your family?
I'm lucky enough to be able to pay private , waiting 18 months for an operation or in the wife's case 3 months to have a lump checked in her breast was not an option for me

Horses and cars don't work well together. Some are great and some are totally reckless - and this is both drivers and horse riders.
I am not sure there is an answer to this, just respect on both sides. I have ridden on roads , I drive them all the time.

There are good riders and good drivers.
There are stupid riders and stupid drivers.

I hate the stupid ones, with cars the accidents tend to be low damage, with horses they are highly stressful, bloody and deadly. In both the stupid people tend to survive.

Wear a body cam (or use a dash cam) and post it on Youtube. And that applies whether the wearer is a horse rider, cyclist, motorist, or pedestrian. Body cams are cheap enough these days and there's nothing like a public shaming to bring people to their senses.

My pet hate is actually the complete opposite. I hate it when drivers are polite -- in contradiction of the Highway Code. No, I do NOT want you to stop and flash your lights when the car causing the obstruction is parked on my side of the road. It's your right of way and I'm expecting you to use it. Plenty more like that. Let's stick to the rules of the road then we all should know where we are.

To be fair the horses were using the road before you were born. "Live in the country, expect to put up with things that happen in the country"

Farmers can't have it both ways
this says a lot, pedestrians were before riders whats that got to do with anything, its all about good manners, and good manners are consideration for others it seems people are so rude and aggressive these days, heaven forbid any one should need to slow down, it works both ways a lot of people think no one can get to them when they are in their cars tractor cabs lories what ever so they can do what they want and shout what they want we have a couple of riders that ride abreast and seem oblivious to the inconvenience they cause to other road users if one pulls over for them they never acknowledge it we also have a cyclist who is belligerent and cycles down the middle of the road and yes there are some young bucks that drive like idiots and have no manners so perhaps people should be compelled to take lessons in manners

It annoys me when people refer to the highway code as the "rules of the road" - whilst some provisions cover explicit legally defined requirements - will normally contain the word "must" in bold type & be followed by references to the specific laws - much of the "code" is guidance only. I'm a bit rusty on the code, but don't recall it prohibiting stopping to allow other drivers pass.

I will often extend the courtesy of stopping to allow oncoming vehicles past an obstruction on their side of the road, I will often also slow/stop to allow vehicles enter from side roads, or turn right across my path because done sensibly it helps to keep everyone on the move & having myself on many occasions spent 10 minutes or more waiting to pass an obstruction or exit a junction I appreciate it when others extend the courtesy to me!

I drive my cycle to make friends not enemies but a lot drive like they dont like cycles , I keep to the side give way on narrow roads and if I come behind a horse slow down and ask if they mind if I pass, making sure they know I'm coming, we all have to use the roads, so learn to get on,be polite and helpful
One lorry driver did nearly kill me , overtook me on a widish road and pinned me to the ditch , going flatt out, had plenty of room on his side , hes been upset by a cyclists somewhere for sure
Was that the driver you gave a bollocking too...

If everyone had this attitude, there wouldn't be trouble on the roads. I can't like this enough (y)(y)(y)
