A positive service experience!

Just wanted to share that we had the 1200 hour service done on our New Holland today, and the service and attention to detail from the tech was superb. He was also admiring how immaculate the tractor was inside and out and was nice to see him putting white cloths on the seat and controls before touching them. He even put a bit of cardboard on top of my clean rubber mat :D

Asked him to bleed the brakes and calibrate the gearbox and what a HUGE improvement on the gearbox, the changes are super quick and snappy now, no slurs or delays. Haven’t really tested the brakes yet although they couldn’t be any worse

Final touch was he sprayed some sort of lovely air freshener inside and it smelt like when I picked it up just over 2 years ago.

Just thought it would be nice to share a positive experience for once, instead of the usual negative ones. Dealer was Lloyd carlisle.

I would have made a comment about the price of dealer servicing.....but feel actually it’s better instead to compare the similar (relative) cost of a main dealer car service and the (poor) service we all know you would likely receive to the cracking experience you have had from a tractor dealer....an employee who takes real pride in his work.

Saying that also illustrates how the agricultural industry lacks an organised independent sector similar to that found the automotive sector. It’s a numbers game I admit....but I for one never use a car main dealer for servicing/MOT yet for tractors etc have little choice for (some) breakdowns.

That's good service and it's great the way you are keeping it clean , you mentioned the brakes , keep an eye on them , there is a 2017 reg nh235 with the brakes gone and the discs have broken up and gone through the hydraulic system , I was told it's a pure mess and will be hard to get right .

That's great service, good to hear ...............

Unfortunately I think the brakes contaminate the hydraulics on most, do they not?

The first part sentence was good. The rest was a bit of an (unnecessary) spoiler really. :(

In fairness to NH dealers here they are top notch , the biggest NH dealer in the country is near here and he gives great service looking after his customers . He hires out a lot of new tractors every year and then sells them on at a good discount , he puts out 150 new tractors every year.

No this is reality , and if it helps this man to keep an eye on this possible problem then it might help him , there's no point sweeping problems under the carpet and letting on that the brakes in the NH are a bed of roses because there not.

Yeah I’ve read a few cases on here that they are extremely fragile. Thankfully is just me who’s ever driving it so I can kind of try and prolong it as much as possible. I use exhaust brake and try and avoid braking for more than 3-4 seconds without coming off them and then back on etc.

Is there any actual way of telling before it’s too late?
