A Sad Sight On The Road This Morning?

Just left my farm and drove onto the public highway thats the road through my village, just by the traffic calming island, laying dead squashed was a male pheasant, what made me post this was, just a couple of hundred yards further along on the other side of the road lay what looked like hundreds of those silver capsules things? both of this must of happened either late last night or early morning? Last week in the same spot as this dead pheasant was a female one, now me, i slow down if i see a bird, cat etc close to the road, but what do others do?

Speed up while snorting nitrous oxide most likely, based on the evidence.

OTOH I don't think you can necessarily blame speeding drivers for dead pheasants, pheasants have a death wish to match sheep, I've hit several that had crossed the road ahead of me approaching and decided to run back under my wheels as the last minute, causing their own demise.

Several years ago now, I stopped as a duck and ducklings crossed the road. I flashed a car coming the other way but it didn’t slow at all and mowed them all down.
Thought that was rather sad as it wasn’t a particularly busy road and the car was no more than a couple of hundred yards out of the 30’s in a village.
If the car driver didn’t notice me flashing my lights or the ducks they couldn’t have been paying attention to the road,

No link, other than both laying nearly side by side, one a symbol of the great british countryside? the other a sign of recent, new? enjoyment? then discarded with no thought or value for that action?

Why didn't you say you lived just down the road from them rather than going home?

Finger in the air … if memory serves (& it does), they were Dutch.
or at least their shorts were orange. Actually, one may have been denim or cut down (off?) jeans.
They were standing about where the “0” is of the A4080 (on the verge obvs) to the right of the pillar box just before the road bends and goes down hill
