Is it just me or are others noticing a hand shake, mans word or things to that effect mean naff all nowadays.

I still deal that way and I’m a man of my word even if it ends up costing me or I lose out. A deal is a deal.

Seems more and more in farming and all walks of life this just isn’t the way anymore.

“Screw everyone incase they try to screw you”.

Yes. I had a thread about this very thing a few weeks ago. I’m afraid it means naff all nowadays.

Does my head in. Handshake means nothing to many people.

A friend of mine went to shake a blokes hand upon buying a tractor. Bloke just looked at his hand and said “You can use that to count the money instead of wasting time”.
He just said “Well, at least I’m glad I don’t feel obliged to buy it now.” He then drove off and I don’t blame him.

There’s bugger all common decency left.

Word is bond (2nd time I've posted that in as many weeks).
One of the most important things the oul boy taught me, you only get one name. Integrity you either have it or you don't, if you dont you are nothing but a guttersnipe .Ive had several dealings with farmers over the last couple of years where the other party has pulled out after an argreement, winds me right up. It's good in one sense to get the measure of a person. I will never deal with someone again if they renege on a deal.

especially the ones in suits

There is a saying locally, that ‘the sharper the suit the bigger the crook’.
The more you think about this the truer it is. Some of the biggest con men are those in positions of supposed respectability.

To name but a few instances, often the higher up you go in politics, the banking industry and the legal profession so the greater is the overwhelming stench of filth as the swine jostle and splash about in their own excrement to get their front feet, as well as their snouts, into the feeding trough.

On the whole this is the case generally, but fortunately; there are still some good honest people left, whom are the ones I often return to spend with.
On top of this - there are the ones who moan about people behind their backs because they are bitter and twisted - but to their faces are all nicey nicey to make a sale. I cannot abide by these people - and I will purposely refrain from any further dealings with them once this trait is visible!!

Like some on here, I am one who places trust in not just a handshake - but verbally agreeing to something as well, and I can vouch for people (some on here thankfully), who still live by the same standards.
Just recently I have purchased a few items, not even seen nor touched said items, only discussed first by text, then phone call - and I was happy to pay up front due to the interactions between the seller and myself.
Yes, I could stand to lose a considerable amount if it goes south - but I do live in hope that some people still have good morals, and touch wood - I have not been let down yet.

On the other side - yes, there are a lot of people out there that lie about something just to make a sale, which I also find morally wrong - as it then passes the costs onto someone who may not be as clued up as the seller, but it still does not justify this deceit to me and shows how shallow and untrustworthy the world is becoming.

People seem willing to sell their soles for a little money!!

To be fair there are quite a few decent people still around, but liars and untrustworthy folks are breeding.
