See this while at cheffins auction today, maybe a tractor pulling project what someone got bored off

wonder what would have been if they had actually produced these back in the day?

Often used to discuss doing that to a 178 to give a bit more oomph to crawl up steep hills with a Land-drive lime spreader, were just dubious whether the ground-speed pto gears would be strong enough, have seen us snap off a pto stub.. luckily not at the top of a steep grass field with a nearly-full spreader and 2wd..:poop:

that would be a simple straightforward conversion, IF i could find time, a bit of spare cash n a tidy 500 series with a fecked engine i would do the same thing
but would definetly be not wanting dry brakes

Spent a few years on MF165 with spring tine harrows. needed ear muffs with 4 cylinder in the old bell chamber safety cab. Dread to think what 6 cylinders would have been like. remember multipower being a novelty, especially getting used to freewheeling down hill on low range. No power steering either, but you never had, you didn't miss.

reckon a nice restored cab-less 185 with that power unit would turn a few heads at steam rallies!!!!!

be a bit different to a 6 pot major???

Keep talking the idea up John,I've a 6.354 in the shed complete with mf698 front axle that I had in my 590.(y)

6 pot in our mf combine runs a lot smoother and quieter than any 4cyl would, id just like to build one for novelty value tbh
