Pretty cutting edge for its time I suspect, a product of all that agricultural knowledge transfer during the war. Really interesting.
The production company listed at the end

Anyone know the farm? Looks like it is this one https://www.countrylife.co.uk/prope...-comes-with-243-acres-of-rich-farmland-239612

Thanks for posting that. Will watch it in full when I have some time. Morwell Barton not far from me, 6 or 7 miles, but I can’t say that I know it well. ‘Tis the other side of “the” river 🤣🤣🤣 and us don’t like to stray over there too much.

That’s very interesting thanks . I wonder when they were spreading that slag how many times they fell off . Can you imagine getting people to do that today

I love this place , it’s been empty sometime now , I do hope someone wealthy sorts it out . Dated from 1394. I can’t find anything on Archer Neave , I wonder what happened to him .

ICI made several of these short films of different farms around the country at the time, another farm being A Pennine Farm where they made 2 films. One in 1958 and one in 1963.
They were made with the intention of promoting the use of this new idea of using fertiliser at the time and how it could improve productivity on farms.

My understanding is, it has been difficult/ impossible to get any planning for modern buildings and continue farming so the land is contracted farmed or let to neighbours.
I know the current owners and hope to have a visit in the near future.
I would very much like to look around sometime , I absolutely love Mowell Barton,I live in Bere Alston and regularly run past it when out running .I would also love to assist in getting the grounds back in order .

I also cannot find any history on archer Neive who is the man in the film that bought the farm, I think he came from Essex originally according to the film, I would like to help Lone how he got on with the Farm, and what happened to him, but as I said I cannot seem to find anything at all about him.

What a trip back in time. Beautiful buildings.

83 cows would have been a large herd back in those days?

It amuses me to hear the units and similar mentioned. All the numbers, dry matter of the silage, protein, the fertilisers used, the seed rate of the grass, the principles are all the same, just a little bit of change in technology as time goes on.
