A4 MFC Laser Printer

Any recent recommendations from anyone on here?

Been a fan of Brother inkjets previously but no experience of their lasers. Any good value, reliable brands?

Took a look back at some old threads because I remember plenty of people have said buy a printer, use the supplied toner cartridges, then junk the machine and buy a new one rather than spending out on toner. Does this still apply?

@sjt01 recommended Kyocera as being low running costs so looking into them.
@Courier recommended Make IT Green so have dropped them an email too.

Have a brother 3550 colour at the minute. Seems good and apparently the toner can be refilled like the old 3150 I had before.

Thanks. Just looked it up on Printerland. I can now see what @sjt01 says above about Kyocera being good value on ink compared to some brands. This is based on buying genuine toner though.

I've found my existing Brother inkjet uses very little ink....and generic cartridges from ebay are a fraction of the price of genuine. £10 max a set for a set of CYM to do 500 pages and BK to do at least the same works out 1p per page or so as an average across colour and black I guess.

We use toner from Cartridgesave, in their remanufactured cartridges for Kyocera which are significantly cheaper and have not had problems over the last 10-15 years of doing so.

I use urefilltoner.co.Uk, they supply a kit for refilling the carts. I have no idea what the saving actually is though.

brother very flimsy - my last one was a Brother. I did my research before the recent buy and went for samsung CLX - think superseded by HP. My options was HP/Samsung/cannon. You can get a decent MFC for £350. Scanning is essential. Double sided brilliant. I buy the lazer cartridges in a set

I've had a Brother HL 4150 CDN colour laser printer for ages . I got for everyday printing to complement an HP Office Jet 8015 . The brother has had 2 sets of non O.M toner cartridges simply stick 'em in and go . I don't think you can better a Brother , - inkjet or laser , they seem to just accept whatever cartidge you put in , with no whinging or "Nag " messages .

Just see what deals printerland have on for one with the high capacity toners in the couple of hundred quid range

I just change mine every few years for whatever make they have on deal with big toners at the time. Had Lexmark, brother, Samsung and never had an issue

What do you term high capacity on pages please?

With printerland I had cashback and a longer warranty. One thing to bear in mind is a decent warranty. Think I had another year which is worth it. The problem with the last Brother I had was the back roller failed. I had a price of £200 for DIY replacement. Wasnt worth it. The better printers are more efficient have economy mode, double sided, low power mode (sleep mode). so quiet in operation. My brother used to warm up constantly (keep rebooting and scan back and for)- as it was in the living room used to drive us mad. I like the setting on this its automatically set to mono. The quality of the pics and colour is adequate. Ok if we are making up flyers etc. Double sided is good for documents - say legal docs or running off manuals saves on paper. I also like the control on the pc for scans etc. Scanning is brilliant for quick replying on emails etc.

Something like this with 1300 page black toner, colour is a little poorer at 700 though I am sure my last Samsung from them came with 3k black and colour toners included. With lasers the toners are the expensive bits so get as much as you can on purchase. Printer land have regular deals on so I go for reasonable warranty and good toner capacities
