Can you bale this and feed it after 30th June? I read as you can (and you can for ordinary fallow as I believe @static does) but is this right. An advisor tried to say I couldn't. Also can I grow ab15,ab15, ww, ab15, ab15 for my 5 year agreement?
I believe @silverfox and @Two Tone are using these options? and I'll tag @Brisel as I know he's read the book thoroughly.....:)
As ever any help gratefully received.
F 10.

Thanks. Ok so I'm only slightly muddled why isn't it in the winter bird food part? Looking at that option there is surely plenty of WBF?

No idea. Guess it has to go in one or other parts. I remember being annoyed that you couldn't put other options that aren't listed on that page in either section when it was clear they would satisfy the overall aim. In the end we now have a big area of extended overwinter stubble which I don't think is very good for the soil even if it is helpful for birds.

Been looking at some CS options with a friend today - quick google and it seems that I need to revive this thread..

Was any supporting documentation offered when it was said this option cannot be cut and baled? Reading the simple spec as linked above it seems you can largely do as you please? Also interested in the wording of the species composition - 'sow a mix in the autumn based on the suggestions below...' does the word 'based' allow some tweaking in terms of ratio's and perhaps extras added (not Cocksfoot!)?? @Feldspar @Brisel

Will send you the email I have tomorrow if it rains.

I don't think you can bale it until the end of year 2 aug 15th. Then you could graze it or whatever you want.
That's what I've been told by someone officially . Top in first year but can only do what you want after 15th August in second year

Is anyone else trying to kill off a whole lot of clover [emoji256]?

Our AB15 is 2-3ft deep in red clover with a ryegrass under-canopy. Too clayey to graze so am flailing to reveal the ryegrass then add spray when clovers grow again. Going in dd with ww before returning to AB15 next September.

Gotta say it's nice to see to see an abundance of growth and interesting to see how the different species dominate at different times. Almost feel guilty destroying it esp in flower. Must be doing structure some good with the diverse perennial rooting.

Yes I think its important to ask NE and get it in email. There seems to be a lot of varying interpretations of rules by different NE staff and advisors. Rules are different for 2016 entrants to those thereafter. 2016 entrants, for example, are allowed to put the option into cropping for a year after Aug 15th year 2. Not so 2017 entrants.

Are you sure?

Am I sure about the ww after Aug 15th? Got it in writing. Advisors were saying no I am wrong but NE gave me it categorically.

So if I get accepted in mid tier for a Jan 2018 start date, I presumably sow the mix by sept 2018. Does it stay until August 15th 2019 or 2020
