Anyone added vetch or phacelia to AB9 mix?

They obvs produce seeds (as I can buy the seed).

Like the idea of fixing a bit of N with the vetch, and getting some good growth with phacelia on the light sand land.

Anyone know what RPA think to vetch or phacelia?

Not on your soil type but vetch here self seeds better than phacelia.

Why would RPA be concerned if vetch and / or phacelia in a seeds mix for AB9, provided the overall components met the AB9 prescription?

That's what I was thinking. Just never seen either in a seed mix, and wondered why.

Edit. Maybe the seeds aren't really liked by the birds?

Possibly but does that matter? Much of the AB9 I see is a mono culture of Redshank!!! Although there is a seed invoice and photo of drilling tractor to show different!!!!
The vetch should fix a bit of N (although might be a bit late in doing so), more ground cover, and I'd be happier looking at it, with less weeds and hopefully compete out a few weeds.

I've put phacelia in AB9. It looks amazing and the number of pollinators is ridiculous. If you're in the early Mid Tier agreements though which require fewer mix constituents then it can limit herbicide options if you plan to use them. We had a field which had phacelia in the mix next to a road and people would stop and take photographs of it.

Ask them
then when you get the answer if they will allow it you can prove it on an inspection
