I have no experience of Angus - but as no one else has replied I will.
Look up local breeders and see if you can visit, ask the breeder what their type is where they see the market and who their customers are. Go to as many Angus sales and shows as possible.
Try and work out what you really like (and want). Then try and find someone with genuine breeding females for sale.
Every breeder will sell their best bulls. Not many will sell their best females - unless they are retiring.
Ensure you are buying high health stock.
Check out the AA society and your local / regional club.

Best of luck, pedigree cattle breeding is a disease. I wish you well as there is no treatment except bankruptcy.

What is your budget? You can spend thousands or tens of thousands on 'the best' Angus cattle or you can try and find some hidden gems from some lesser known herds. There were some show potential Angus cows sold at Worcester on Saturday for sensible money. There are some females for sale in Carlisle on 21st May and the Shadwell herd, which is a very good herd, is having a dispersal sale on the 28th May at Skipton. But get in contact with your regional Angus club and they will be able to advise you on herds in your area with stock to sell. Good luck.

It would be worth your while checking out and contacting Adrian Johnson of the Yearsley heard near York he has some very good cattle and has had very good results in the showing ring over many years, and I believe he is going to be selling most of the herd this year, If you need any more help you can PM me if you want

The profit you are going to earn per head on a suckler cow business wouldnt keep a child in shoes so you may aswell have something to lean over a gate on a July evening and say that is my breeding and I bred her.

My mother used to say they won't make you rich so you might as well have something you can look at

AA cattle are as near to easy care as you can find. Buy the very best you can find ,not just the dearest, If you think you can afford 10 buy 7 buy better. No customer looks for a 2nd rate bull. Always go for length lightish shoulders and good EMA . Take time to learn the breed. Develop your own ideas ,theres a lot of waffle about .You dont need to buy them all at once. Best of luck!
