Does anybody have any experience with sending cull ewes to abp?
How well do they kill out?
What type of ewes average what sort of weights?

They like them lean! I sent some and the agent picked out ewes I would be a bit embarrassed about sending live. They graded well. One he said was too good but I misdrafted and let go, I would have said was still lean but they graded as a 4 and hammered me on price.

  6. What are people getting for cull ewes per head or per Kg?

What weights would hill ewes kill out at roughly? They told us they pay 2.25. And they pay base up to 4L now but I'm now thinking some of the ewes booked in May be too fat by the sounds of it.

  8. Sounds like my sheep would be ideal. Pity their plants up here don't kill ewes.

Grades came back today on the ewes, 2 overfat which were hammered but as an overall came to atleast £10 a head more than the market would of been.

  13. ABP are cut throat with fat at the best of times

    They'll subsidise the haulage

  20. They all 'subsidise' the haulage

Theyd need to be paying markedly more than the rest to make me consider it...
