Accelerated loss of mains change program

Just had a letter from N Power about this saying we need to change some relays or components on our solar system. Roof mounted 24kw installed 5 years ago.

Anyone else had this or similar? I've no idea what they are "requiring" us to do

These panels are the single most unsexy investment i've ever made. Payback will possibly cover costs... Any out of the blue costs will make the investment negative

Sorry to hear your system is doing so badly, there must be issues some where, is it South facing?
Do you not use any of the power? Can you check how much you have exported? Many meters will actually show this.

Back to the question, the ALOM programme would not normally apply to a system under 50Kw , however in your paperwork there may be reference to a G59, if so this does need resetting.
Speak to your installer is the first port of call. There is a subsidy for doing this work , which should more than cover any cost, it will simply mean a 20 minute reprogramming for most.

We've got 3 x 50Kw arrays, each with two SLA inverters. I've just spoken to my installer, he's talking about putting in a new panel with a new set of relays.

There's been no talk of reprogramming anything. I don't think he's deliberately making the job bigger than it needs to be, but given his plans are at odds with what I'm reading here I'm wondering whether new hardware is actually necessary?

Actually the maker of the relays is offering a very good deal to replace them. I wanted to go for it but cannot get the permission off the DNO!!!
We have finally got the go ahead for just changing the programme

Our 26kWp system runs through 2 Sunny Tripower TL12000 inverters. Having read all the detailed spec and Sunny's online help pages ours didn't need any change. I just need to work out how to let the DNO know now (presumably UK Power Networks in this area).

You may be lucky and find the same.

I'd imagine so as we're using TL25000 inverters, I can't imagine there's much difference.

Thanks for that.

The blurb I got emailed advised that it's important that the DNO is notified.
