Access and vehicular obstruction

So, have some rented ground, been on it circa 5 years and is located at the end of a fairly well populated area of a local village. There is a bend in the road about mid way along the access and generally speaking I've not had any issues getting in and out with tractor and bale trailer (28Ft). On occasions a cars would park on the road adjacent to their property making things tight but were always happy to move them if need be.

Yesterday I was on bale hauling which ran into the evening- as per usual, cars everywhere when It came to leaving for the trip home at 9pm. This was the worst it's been an no amount of shunting was going to get me out of there. Think along the lines of enough room to get a truck through but anything more eg fire engine etc would have no chance. Spoke to a couple of residents who happily came and shifted their vehicles and remarked on how congested it had become in recent years. Needed a but more room so knocked on the door of a house with 2 x cars parked on the road (house does have off street parking but is used by their campervan), apologised about the inconvenience but could they possibly mover their vehicles so I could come through with tractor an trailer. The response was rude, aggressive, telling me It was their right to park their, my kit was too big to be using around there, why was I working that late (9pm!) and I'd had all day to do it etc. Basically the bloke was a knob! He did eventually move his vehicles but what could have been resolved in 5 minutes ended up taking almost an hour.

I'm sure this sort of thing isn't isolated to me- what do others do in the same situation? I managed to bite my tongue as it was clear that he just wanted a ruck about things but technically, there's no restrictions on the road and his vehicles were obstructing the highway... am also sure that the next time I'm on hauling he'll go out of his way to make the access more awkward.

To put into context, this isn't a regular job for me and would be in and out with the trailer maybe 10 times spread over 4-5 days each year.

Explain the situation, ask for his number, and send him a text on the 4-5 days a year you'll be using that road? Maybe someone else will park in that space instead though
I did wonder about that- on the basis that being nice generally yields more results. It's difficult when he believes that the spaces occupied by his vehicles on the highway belong to him.

I'm very much on the side of whacking wing mirrors off and putting obnoxious signs up to 'teach a lesson' - but really a practical answer for an issue is a much better, quicker and cheaper resolve for both parties.

edit to say that there is also only so much aggressiveness that I would put up with though.

We have an issue at the end of our drive with delivery vans and my neighbour who shares it has at least 5 a day.
We frequently speak to various people in our street pointing that we will not be held responsible if their pride and joy gets scratched. Most take the hint, but the space is quickly filled by another.
The worst offender by far is a numpty two houses away who drives a school bus and has about 4 cars and a transit himself. I would have very strong words with him , but his wife is a lovely person who does a lot for other people

minute 6 id have been on my way through
Unfortunately and as tempting as it was, to get out involves a left hand bend, with cars legitimately parked on my left. His cars were on the right, exactly where I'd need to put the tractor to give enough "swing" to miss the legally parked cars. If I just ploughed on through it would have meant damage to those ones as well which isn't really cricket.

Of the car was parked illegally, ring the police, not that they’d likely do much.
If he gets aggressive tell them that and you feel threatened

I think you have a good deal more leverage with the law if you are trying to get out of a property and your way to the public highway is blocked than if you are doing the opposite. Not sure why, possibly something to do there being a legal right to access public roads at all time while access to private land is a private matter. So a phone call to the police if you are trapped inside might have better results than if you are trying to get in.

We were moving the combine through the village and came on a car parked stupidly opposite the local 'award winning' pub. Escort (me) squeezed through, but it was too tight for the combine, so the driver (6'3" bouncer) climbed down the steps and walked into the restaurant. 60 seconds later he comes back with the beetroot faced car owner in tow and staring at his feet, to move his car...

We got back to the farm and I asked him what happened back at the pub.
"I asked the diners if the owner could move their car, and this bloke says he'll be out in 5 minutes, trying to play it cool with his friends. So I says Oi You!, the village is grid locked because you cant fooking park, you've got 60 seconds or I'll push it out of the way. At which point he stops looking quite so cool!" 😂
