Hi everyone, we have got a few animals and a contracting business and sell straw and haylage etc etc to make a living and do what we enjoy. Any way we own a small field of an acre and half and have got a 60x30 shed up now and have around 40 animals to house in it durin winter months. We used to house in other buildings but these are away from home and was a pain to be travelling and the land is close to home what we rent so made sense to have a shed on our own land.
We went through full planning with the local council and was granted it and now it’s up and in use. The access we use is across a neighbours field who is happy for us to drive over it but in winter it is like a deep muddy track which is getting worse with the weather being more wetter than normal conditions.
Our access is through the house yard which is ok for running animals through but no good for tractors which come in across the field in summer and generally stay on our land and don’t go out much in winter but we are getting more work in winter than anticipated so it is making the track worse and the road outside the field is needing more sweeping and it’s worn the sweeper out in 3 months.
We would like to put a hard standing track across the field to get a clean access all year round and hopefully save a lot of work and possibly an accident if a car was to slide on the mud on the road before we got the brush out.
My neighbour who is really good with us says he doesn’t want the hassle the council could give over putting a track in and says to keep sweeping the road etc but this isn’t a practical option really as it is a twice a day job and a general pain in the arse. The soil track there now has been deducted of the sfp and marked down on the upto date maps of the farm so it is recognised but would it need planning to put a proper stone track in or could we just do this without notifying anyone?
Any help appreciated a lot.
Thanks
Mark
