Can I ask, is a new hyd fan horrendous money?
Not cheap, makes the PTO one I'm selling here a veritable bargain.

Options were;
  • Fit a hyd motor to existing fan, this requires either fan relocating (there's no room on the existing shaft to locate a motor on the end as its close mounted to the drill frame) and having new bracket and motor mount fabricated (£?) and a new Hyd. motor and valve block (circa £250) plus pipes (£?)

or

  • change the fan mounting bracket to the KV one for a Hyd fan, part No: AC380367 (£110), you also need a new input shaft with bearing and housing, part No: AC380176 (£250) then an aftermarket hydraulic pump and valve block, pipes etc. (circa £250).

N.B. the later drills (2015?) have an updated fan and you can just bolt a hyd. motor straight to the fan, no need for a bearing and brackets etc.

or

  • complete retro fit fan unit with fan, pump, valve blocks- just for a shock I phoned local KV dealer to ask price for the KV retro fit unit. they haven't phoned back so I assume even the parts man is still in shock and he must see some shockers! phoned Andy Guest he hasn't any in at the moment. Weaving do a Crary fan, 6" cast aluminum, complete with motor etc, a little bit over £1k, I've gone for one of these, with the shallowest cowling he has in stock, hoping it will fit in the space of existing fan, if not will mount next to the rear steps.

Probably most cost effective way is to buy an old front hopper like this (picture taken from a TFF thread), then sell the hopper on once removed:

You can see this unit will fit straight onto the existing pivot shaft for the PTO unit,you will see the TS drill has a welded on lug for the stabiliser bracket already fitted.

How come you didn't plump for the 2nd option?

After buying pipes etc it would be £700 and I wouldn't have a complete fan and PTO to sell to help offset the cost. Plus the Crary fan is a really good unit that most independent drill manufacturers fit as an OEM, it's 6" vs. the accord 4" unit and thus can operate at less RPM. The accord runs at 4500RPM.
