Accurate concrete groove

Afternoon all.

I need to put a 35mm wide and 25mm deep groove accurately in some concrete. Is there a tool that I can use to do this? A concrete router or similar? If I can do it using my existing drill/angle grinder so much the better.

I could use a grinder for each side of the slot and then chip out the middle with a chisel but I don't think that it will end up very smooth.

Thanks in advance. 👍

What's the purpose of it?

Needs a plunge saw with enough grunt to use a concrete blade if it needs to be really neat.

How far you got to go - as you could use a wall chaser slowly, then use an SDS drill on impact only to chisel out the cut - or hire one that has multiple cutters? Screw a guide piece of wood to the concrete to give you the straight edge.

I had to put a similar groove in concrete for my auto scrapers. Got a company in with a diamond tipped saw, seem to remember they had 2 blades along side each other. Was dead straight

The slot would be about 5m long. Wall chaser after having cut a slot each side sounds like a plan. Have got a jackhammer so could maybe get the right attachment for it. Thanks 👍

You don't need to cut a slot each side, they come with multiple blades that you set the width with spacers, mine has two - but you can get better units on hire that cut the whole groove or you can use a narrow chisel and bolster hammer to remove the cut section 👍

break out a rough channel, lay in a piece of c section steel, then either cement around it or pour a high strength grout (fosroc conbextra or similar) around it. wall chasers are good but wont give you a smooth rear to the chase
