Ad Blue buying options

Now running 2 bits of kit with Ad Blue.

Having 1000 litre IBC on site feels excessive but the 20 litre options are probably an expensive way of doing things.

what other options are out there in between and how are they transferred - gravity?

I have a ibc which my local autosmart dealer comes and fills when I need it. I only get 500l at a time as apart from harvest I only have 1 tractors that uses it. Definitely gravity and keep it out of direct sunlight. I’ve put mine in a shed so it’s less likely that if your in a rush you don’t put adblue in the fuel tank accidentally. The contractor who I use at harvest has done this in the past.

The blue 200 litre barrels are terrible! The tube on the hand pump only goes about two thirds the depth of the barrel. Then you have to put the barrel on blocks and tip it on an angle to get more out and eventually tip the barrel into containers to get the last 10% out.

I just get the blue 205L barrels from my usual fuel supplier, last one was £90 +vat delivered. I have it tucked in a shed doorway so easy access and out the sun, just fill up as I’m getting tractor out the shed, works well and no issues with the plastic hand pump.

Would be a non green backlash if ad blue becomes unavailable , a proportion of farming work not done , no lorries running , no buses running and a large proportion of newer cars, etc etc , could well be a serious rethink by government off the back of this debacle.

I did the same £90 £10 of which was the deposit for the drum but im going with an ibc this time cheaper per litre and a lot less hassle filling up

Locally the deposit on the ibc makes it un economic compared to a 205 for £90.
Also keeps it fresh.
Have a hand pump and a jug to top up the one machine on ad blue. Tank hold 25l iirc. Just top it up as diesel is filling.

I got asked just this question as we sell the 200l drums on Farm Marketplace.

This is what the guy had bought: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Laser-7145...p/B07CT61QLB/ref=pd_sim_1/257-4764930-1221357

But there are a few better versions for twice as much as well.

The 200l drums are £114 plus vat delivered - https://www.marketplace.farm/farm-m...bricants-and-additives/greenchem-adblue-200l/

A bit cheaper on Farmdeals if you are a member of the buying group.
£25 delivery is quite steep on a £90 barrel.

We do the same, only 1 tractor and the pickup which needs it so if a neighbour wants to fill his 200 litre barrel they come to me for some as it’s cheaper.
