I've just got my first ad blue s/h tractor a few months ago, NH T7. Ad blue might become very expensive soon. Thinking of getting it mapped out. Are there drawbacks?
Only drawback is if some bureaucratic body decide on a job creation scheme and bring in tractor testing to ensure the adblue system in your tractor is workingI've just got my first ad blue s/h tractor a few months ago, NH T7. If you gotta get it turned back on at a later date don't expect it being as simple as the reverse of getting it turned off.Only drawback is if some bureaucratic body decide on a job creation scheme and bring in tractor testing to ensure the adblue system in your tractor is working
Doesn't affect the engine performance, or longevity
Switch it off, but leave a little in the tank to stop crystallisation. It'll cost less than an ibc of adblue even at the current "low" cost
You can always get it turned back on if the world goes to hell in a handbag
Bit like the wife?If you gotta get it turned back on at a later date don't expect it being as simple as the reverse of getting it turned off.
i think the point is that the tractor would perform the same without adblue unlike dieselDiesel is expensive but it aint gonna go without that either....
Of course.i think the point is that the tractor would perform the same without adblue unlike diesel
If they can soot test for cherry... presumably adblue is not so hard to checkThat's what I've been told.
One wonders how they would test if the ad blue system is working though.
Has anyone done it?
Valtra N134D used 1000l IBC after 2 years, 2800 hoursOf course.
What would a tractor like that use in 12 months/1000hrs, 1-2 barrels maybe depending on what it's doing? Hardly a dramatic amount in cost.
Only got to have a bump or be a bit a way from base and get stopped and they find out it's switched off, the ad blue will look cheap in comparison to any fines or even down time of being investigated.
I ahem! Know of someone who had a similar problem with a New Holland T7 235 after various resets it was decided a new as blu pump was required, Cost £1600 remap and delete £500.00 This person now thinks his tractor goes a lot better, far more low rev torque and is very happy.Valtra N134D used 1000l IBC after 2 years, 2800 hours
Cost for the man with the laptop £250, or 17 months of adblue usage (at current, not going to last for long price)
Chances of being the first person to ever get their tractor adblue tested? I reckon any fine will be paid by the winning lottery ticket that I'm due to be delivered by flying pigs
Also in my case, I'd needed a new adblue unit at about 2500 hours, (thankfully under warranty), didn't fancy the thick the of a 2k bill if it went again after another 2500 hours......
...... Compared to £250 for a switch off? Think you'd need to be hellish risk adverse to turn that away
Remap and delete you say. It'll be the remap that's made it go better not the delete then. Adblue is a complete after treatment and has no effect on engine operation, unlike egr. I'd much rather have adblue than egr.I ahem! I fully understand that, no more top end power just a bit of bottom end torque,Remap and delete you say. It'll be the remap that's made it go better not the delete then. Adblue is a complete after treatment and has no effect on engine operation, unlike egr. I'd much rather have adblue than egr.
They can’t soot test for red diesel,it doesn’t stain your engine and there’s no such thing as a tv detector van.If they can soot test for cherry... presumably adblue is not so hard to check
It does. Many engines derate or won't even run without the adblue tank being sufficiently full.Remap and delete you say. It'll be the remap that's made it go better not the delete then.
