For a while Charolais were the in demand breed around here, but over the last few years there seems to have been a change, Charolais are still popular but Angus seem to becoming popular again, there’s an article in this weeks farmers journal about it. We like the angus and have worked with them since going into breeding in 2014 but we need to breed good heifers with a bit of stretch about them to help with expansion because buying them is getting costly
What's the breeding of the AA bulls you use?

Most of my bulls have been blaelack bred.we put them over sim x lim cows an got some real nice heifers with some length about them.
Our youngest bull that’s blaelack sired is quite plain. We’re hoping he’ll fill out though as he’s not 2 until the spring

How do you find the Bazadaise to work with? We were told a long time ago there was a bad bloodline somewhere that bred bad tempered stock. That’s said most breeds do have a bad strain somewhere
As you say, most breeds have some with poorer temperament, for whatever reason. The poor bloodline story maybe comes from a long dead bull called Polux, there shouldn't be any of him left in the UK herd.

Mine are all quiet to work with, and at calving, which is essential for me as I am a delicate flower of a wummin and cannot tolerate any nonsense.

I’m sure the ones I heard about were off an AI bull, so could’ve been from another country. After an incident that I mentioned earlier on we don’t keep anything that causes problems.

yes, thats right, same bull but straws were not available through the Bazadaise Society
there's a good selection of French AI bulls on the Baz website and not one of them is associated with temperament issues in progeny
In fact one of the bulls is recommended for heifers and has very quiet calves and I can vouch for that. Imprevu.

Hope you've plenty powdered milk to top the calfs up as the cows won't have enough 😂
They’re sim heifers x out of shorthorn cows!! No problems here regarding milk, 200 to choose from an don’t think I’ve culled more than two cows for lack of milk in the last ten years!! Are yours pedigree, how many have you got?

Stabiliser stot 19 month old 730 kgs been on 100 day intensive ration did 2.2kgs a day killed at 405kgs R4l. I’ve bought a few of them to see how they do before I maybe try a bull. @Dave6170 i believe that one out of sim cows. I think there might be a bit of variation within the breed but I’ve just bought some more and we shall see how they go.
