Put this in the Agricultural Matters section as applies to other sectors other than just the cereals which I voted on and my comments follow. Good in lots of ways but far less specific than I hoped, no room for criticism of Rec list (I don't want it abolished but I have several improvements), no mention of RT, or individual projects like monitor farms etc etc. Interestingly you can vote on some of the board members whose terms are up or who want to join the board. Wasn't personally impressed by the more 'trade' members amongst the candidates. Clearly any engagement is an improvement but I felt somewhat underwhelmed and doubt that there will be sufficient change for the organisation to ensure its survival. Is it anything like you were expecting @Clive ? I will tag some more articulate and reasonable people than me for their views; also interested to hear what other sectors think. @Feldspar @Grass And Grain @Humble Village Farmer

Got the email this morning. Not had time yet, will do it later.

Suspect they already know what I think! But if there's a general comments box, I'll highlight fact UK grain must be assured to get market access, yet their is a route for non-assured imports to access those same markets. AHDB should work to make sure UK grain has at a minimum, some sort of equivalent market access as imports. That's one set of lab test per 60,000+ tonnes from multiple farms.

In practical terms, the lab test method for imports has been designed to work for large tonnage/boat loads. We need a market access route for non-assured UK grain which works for a 29t load.

AHDB'S job to facilitate this.

Will report back here later, after filling out the survey.

Done as a beef levy payer

Email to Mr Rycroft after the survey was done:

Subject : AHDB "Have your say" beef levy payer

Dear Mr Rycroft

I duly registered with AHDB to give my feedback. I am utterly disappointed to see that (unlike potato and horticultural growers) I am unable to comment and "vote" as I see fit.

There is no free field for comment, only pre-loaded statements that I have to rank 1-5. I feel cheated and bitterly disappointed that I basically have had my views ignored

Kind regards

Does anyone think their comments will actually be taken on board…..or will this be like every other consultation and just be paid lip service?
Nah it will be a "look how many members replied and this is what they want" exercise. Not sure how many of the options of thing to do fit their statutory brief.
