Adjusting fert spreader disc veins

I’ve managed to put stripes in the wheat (yet again) despite phoning Amazone for the settings.
So, I’ve ordered a tray test kit. But I can’t find any info on how to adjust the veins to even up spread.
It’s thrown it too far.
Surely it can’t be a case of trial and error.

Download the app, there is a spreader optimisation page on there and you put your tray test results in and it will advise where to move your vanes

I’ve got the app. But origin urea doesn’t seem to be listed.
But don’t you need the fancy/expensive matts to use that part of the app ?

Why not get a professional in. SCS do mine, but I'm sure others are available. It will be cheap in the long run. IME manufacturers settings are only a starting point not where they should be. Crop and fert too ££££ to get it wrong this year.

I was only reading on here the other day where someone had been charged £350 (I think) for one product they then wanted extra to do another test.

Looking at 3 different products a year through fert spreader. It’d soon get expensive.

Buy a few trays, I can then check the slug pelleter too.

Basic rules, long veins, wide spread, short veins, narrower spread.

By angling the veins back on the disc (if holes allow), the slighter angle will reduce spread width.

The easiest solution is to reduce pto (disc) speed.

Nor me but you should see the stripes I had last year with my Kuhn, cheap fert was to blame!! (no danger of that this year!)

Origin don’t make urea, it comes in on a great big boat and they put it in a bag with their name on it. What you need to do is choose 1 of the urea’s on the app that is most similar to what you’ve got, granular/prill, Russian/Egyptian. That would give you a start point. Tray test and put in the volume/weight (it doesn’t matter which) of fert in each tray, that will give the app figures so it can work out the COV and will then suggest adjustments to the vanes

I've just got rid of my amazone ZAM for the very reason mentioned about.
No matter how I tried to set it up it would always throw too much to the over lap or if you corrected that then it would over spread at the 6M mark.
This was with origin urea and origin AN.
I spoke to amazone about it several times and each time they suggested I try different things but nothing worked.
I also contacted origin to get the manufacturer of there products as I could be sure I was getting the right settings from amazone.

Bogballe now and so far so good!!!

Hi, as a manufacturer of spreaders, Origin are hard work. They won’t tell you what the fert actually is so how are we meant to give you the settings.

That's a good point. To be far they've always told me something but weather it's correct I'm not so sure.
This year I have origin AN origin have told me it's eurochem granular 33.5 but the bags are all labeled as prilled 34.5 so Im sure what it is but it's spreading ok

They have a txt service.txt them what you want to spread .rate,speed and they txt back

Sorry , but if you want to sprea Urea accurately their is only one way to go.
liquid! No offence , but Urea sold here is from any factory in. The world and can be anything from nice graunles to dust. At this price I would not dream of chancing a spreader

I striped loads of grass with that Diamond high sulphur fert
