Major were wanting £2200 + carriage for a 10 stud commercial granning axle for my 3100 tanker.
There is nothing wrong with it. I wanted to change the axle just to be on the safe side. Its a lot of weight to have on one axle and the tanker has moved a lot of stuff. We found out the hard way once before that when it goes wrong its spectacular(@Jim75 had to rescue old McD from the side of a round about after the axle snapped on a different make o tanker). I thought half that would be more than plenty! What happened to your old axle? Did it bend?
For £2200 I'd want a tanker.

Next one will be a tandem. The single axle tankers are fine as long as they are treated with respect.I had a 2600 major and I hated it it was an accident waiting to happen,if I ever got another lgp tanker I would fit a lift axle,it would halve the stress and make it far more stable on the road.

Was advised against the Challengers by a man that has one very heavy, very high and likes to break springs. I had wondered if it would be possible to fit an air suspended axle to the tanker that could lift like a lorry.I've hired a 3000 challenger in the past far better on the road but axle set up costs something like £9k the best one around us was built using an air lift axle, cheap and works better.
More like triple that weight!I don't really understand the single axle on a tanker, I have a single axle trailer on the same axle as the tanker and I wouldn't go over 6 tons of a load, yet the tanker could be double that plus a big wheel to put more strain on the axle

I know! Then throw it into a corner or go across a hill with those high wheels, no wonder the axles don't last!More like triple that weight!

Ours had decided to start bouncing now when you go over 20 mph, must be a safety feature It would bounce you into next week so we just drive her easy now,
