Have to say that we have been working with the new team at AHDB a lot recently and are impressed. The next stage for the We Eat Balanced campaign will run in January 2022 and is looking great.
Their drive is down social media and harnessing quick and efficient messages and challenging those who try to distort truth and facts.
A great piece of work by them

Do the Advertising Standards Authority not review adverts before they are aired or published? Once the adverts are out there the damage is done and very little noise is ever made about any apologies if there are false or misleading claims.

Probably no obligation for prior approval - Simply publish and wait for the complaints.

The short answer is No. We'd like to see them do this in much the same way as films are graded before release however the shear number of adverts would require them to have a massive number of staff to do these reviews. Businesses can ask them to review an ad before they air it but in the main most don't bother as (a) they can get a hit in before a complaint is raised and (b) they can make PR capital from being banned. It is a crazy state of affairs but at least AHDB are being vigilant in monitoring this sort of output

Also impossible with so much advertising online now. What's interesting is how quickly the ASA have acted on this one. Was only aired in October. So must have been a slam dunk of a complaint.

ASA are still investigating Red Tractors claims of traceability of all flour from farm to pack. That was a claim Red Tractor made in September.

And to echo that - nice work AHDB getting it removed.

The ASA should have the power in these cases to force a correction to be published by the offender. Simply banning an advert is not enough when damage has been done. Then a fine if the correction is not done.
