Advice on electricity required, please!

I've just realized that my parents are paying an extortionate amount of money on electricity bills. They are currently with British Gas, and both the farmhouse and farm buildings are on the business tariff, but on separate meters. Does anybody know whether it is possible to have the house on a domestic tariff to see if that would make it cheaper? Also, I'd like to find them a different supplier, but am not sure which one is any good. Does anyone have any recommendations, please? Thanks in advance.

If you are NFU members try the NFU Energy department. They will give you a no obligation quote and sort the transition. Other providers are availble.

The business meters are charged Vat at the higher rate unless you submit a form to the supplier claiming what percentage is domestic, at which point the Vat drop to 5%.
We changed over Christmas from SSE Swalec following a call to uSwitch. It was neither easy nor straightforward. SSE were impossible, objecting to the transfer until the contract expired then charging at the premium variable rate. They are totally opaque and liars.
Eventually we got a new contract with EDF. I fully expect that they won't be any better next time I try to get a better deal.

Bulb, - down here in the SE, we've got a few commercial and domestic 'walk-away' contracts with them plus them paying any break costs from other suppliers' contracts. Plus anyone that recommends you via a link i.e. friend, family member (or me! :)) gets a £25 (each) credit or £50 if gas added.

So far, we've not had anyone can beat them.... and so easy to get a rate online with no fuss

The farm house here was made to go on domestic tariff which is slightly dearer ,by npower, easy to renegotiate ,phone up eon or EDF first then go back to British gas with quote,I find it easier to stay with existing supplier rather than swapping every year

Absolute shocker with bulb. Started off fine then they doubled the direct debit despite monthly charge being less than original direct debit so creating a large credit balance. Moved to igloo although Bulb made it difficult to switch. Direct debit less than bulb and bills less than direct debit. Any credit balance you get 3% interest with any interest received deducted straight away of your current bill. Now paying less than half what I used to pay Scottish Power.
