Hello Everyone. We've opened up an old Gateway onto an unclassified road with permission from the Highways Agency. A lot of the Concrete is broken up & we have covered it with Gravel but now want to renew it. Do we need permission for this ?
Thanks in advance

Just replacing existing material ,new for old ,,the only thing you might be required to do is install a defined kerb edge which would have to be done by a contractor with street works liability insurance ,,you might be lucky though just to dig up the old concrete and relay it back to the highways edge ,,surprised there was something in the permission to open it up stating that .
when my landlord moved the yard up to the end of a dirt track ,,council made him put in a tarmac entrance 4 mtrs back from the road edge with concrete kerbs ,the track had been there for donkies years but only as access to the fields

No there was nothing, just said that must only be for Agricultural use. Gateway is in a really prominent position on a crossroads at edge of village . When we opened it up had a couple of villagers come over & question it as it had been closed up for years & used as a parking area. We ourselves didn't even realise it was a proper Gateway! Hubby wants to concrete a bit more inside the field to give a turning circle ( he's from S.A. ) I've tried to explain that you can't just do stuff here. We have some hard-core so hopefully we can spread this out for now.

Take pictures before ,,dig out an area inside the gate way ,,drop the old concrete in the hole and track it in,cover that with smaller stuff to make a turning area ,,renew the excisting mess ,pictures of the new concrete and go home
