Advice please -- Maxxum 5150+ fuel supply pipe.

My 1995 case 5150+ is drawing air from the fuel tank, the problem appears to be the flexible part of the supply pipe at the tank end - under the cab.

Has anyone here replaced one of these? Is it as difficult as it looks or is there something I'm missing.
I don't really want to raise the cab if I can drop the tank but I'm not sure there is enough room!

I dropped the tank off ours, was only 20 min job had to remove the back wheel to get at it though.
Bit of a stretch to release the wire for the fuel gauge, and it was a snug fit getting it out and back in but I never lifted the cab.(y)

My neighbour (even older than me and a DB & Case collector - five acres & five tractors!) popped in for a cuppa and I mentioned the problem to him.

He said, "if you ever cleaned your cab, you would know that you can remove the floor panel & seat to access the top of the tank" - and he's right! Job done, but it hasn't cured the problem, obviously the pick up assembly in the tank is corroded as it sucks air before the flexy pipe.

I think I'll just drill the tank top at the front & run a new feed pipe & gauze strainer.

Problem starts when it drops below three quarters full.
The pick up tube is, along with the fuel return pipe, part of the fuel gauge sender unit, I'll attempt to remove it in the morning and see if there is an obvious crack or corrosion damage.

I have a 5130 as far as I think if you remove the rubber floor ,there is a removable plate in the metal floor pan above the fuel outlet allowing you to remove it .But I may be wrong certainly is in my MX 135 .
