yeah, there's that, risk would be minimised if it's one driver/owner. Makes me laugh really because if the 4wd bulb blows you don't get 4wd which is mega dangerous in a damp sloped field With a trailed forager and loaded trailer turning on the headland. Been there. I presume this would mean you also wouldn't get 4w braking on the road...... a blown light on the side console is easy to miss.

I find that hard to believe, but believe what you say.
I appreciate im a bit of a bore when it comes to such things, but if that caused someone to be hurt, i would suggest the machinery manufacturer would be liable as they had not considered the design of the machine correctly. There is a specified process to follow to eliminate such design faults.

The bulb on the side console has no bearing on the mfwd braking system on an 6 series Deere. However on the early 6x00 series the mfwd did work through the brake lights, if both the brake light bulbs blow it will stick in 4wd. This is only on the very early 00 models though.

on our 6920 a blown bulb did prevent the 4wd from working I'm sure or was it my imagination? Stranger the thigs have happened!

20 series mfwd brake works through the bcu (basic control unit) any faults and it will default into 4wd. The console light is turned on/off by the controller just as an information light and has no bearing on the actual system. Could have been another underlying fault such as a fault brake switch.

Nearly all tractors are electrical and hydraulic disengage on 4wd and any faults they revert in to 4wd. Early Masseys 500 were the other way around plus a few odd models here and there. The only dangerous and rare fault that can happen is if brake filings jam the 4wd solenoid in open position and oil is supplied to pack all the time to disengage. Other failures would have to be mechanical failures such as splines or shafts.
