I look forward to hearing about your progress sound like a very interesting endeavour , hope we learn lots
I need to qualify my comment. They can potetially become a problem if they are not managed correctly. In my first year I had a hive that created a 300m exclusion zone it was a nasty problem, I had done the training and ticked all the boxes however I had managed the hive incorrectly and they had become highly agressive and territorial.
But I think @Chris F you may be onto something. This could also work for swarm collection.
Hi, just came across this thread and as a beekeeper I am fascinated by your plans @sfe4r so hope you are going to keep us updated as they progress. Though I have to say a bee bed is a new one on me. I feel like I am missing out as the main aroma i get when working my bees is either smoke from my smoker or a sweaty bee suit smell! Though being around bees can be relaxing so maybe there is somthing in it.@sfe4r Would you be able to post this thread on any bee keepers groups? I'm sure lots of bee keepers would find it useful to connect with farmers.
Would beekeepers posting in the wanted section of TFF be a good way to start to aupport bee keepers and farmers link up? If so this could be posted on the Beekeeping forums (there are two -its political!) As a suggestion for those looking for sites to join here and engage with farmers. We would be happy to support any ways for different groups to link up. Please keep the ideas coming on this thread.
Rather than the wanted section, why not post in this (holistic) , cropping or even the Ag. matters section.Would beekeepers posting in the wanted section of TFF be a good way to start to aupport bee keepers and farmers link up? You'll get better coverage and throw open some good discussion. There'll be plenty of support for bee keepers.
That's good advice, I was worried it might get lost in requests for shooting and metal detecting and would not necessarily get seen. I should start a new thread in this section rather than my shameless hijack of @sfe4r's post. I will also pass it around my fellow beekeepers and beefarmers to let them know what a good bunch and interesting resource TFF is.Rather than the wanted section, why not post in this (holistic) , cropping or even the Ag. matters section.
