Afghanistan Refugees

Her Majesties Government has air lifted about 15,000 people out of Afghanistan. Many of which will come to the UK as refugees to claim Asylum.

I was thinking today about the fact some of these people would have been at risk if they stayed in Afghanistan.

But wouldn't the Afghan soldiers also be at risk ? Would an Afghan soldier who comes to the UK as a Refugee have a good case - ie the Taliban would most likely kill or maim them if they were to remain in Afghanistan.

So does this mean there is the potential for 300,000 men to be moving towards the West to claim asylum ?

I think it's been accepted that the figure was made up by the Afghan government

My understanding, is that the lowly troops will mostly switch sides, which is not unknown there! The SF of the Afghan army are a different matter, they will carry on the fight or leave... Officer corp the same.

Have a feeling the government’s current hotel bill must be astronomical what with daily sailings across the channel & now this, somebody is going to have to foot the bill eventually.
