After stubble turnip's

I'd really like to grow something to fatten lambs mid summer, we did spring turnip's this year very successfully after not getting winter wheat in due to the wet.
The only spare land we have to drill this spring is after autumn sown turnips.
I'm presuming we can't put turnip's back in again? If not what else can be sown that will be gone by late September?

That's what I said but got shot down. Wouldn't be rape or turnip for many years but 2 back to back turnips crops.

Plenty grow swedes for 2 years on the trot. Club root will/could build up gradually over years. I certainly wouldn’t worry about it, as long as it will be left out of brassicas for a good while after.

I think I would look at a leafy turnip (like Appin) or a hybrid (Redstart/Swift/etc) in your scenario though, to get several grazings out of it.
if you will be getting the benefit of the ground after, maybe even an annual clover crop which, although higher seed costs, need less fert input and leave residual N.

You can grow turnips one crop after the other. I have often grown an early crop and then put in another crop for winter.

Put spring barley in but whole crop or crimp it so it comes off earlier . You will get hell of a good crop after turnips
But I'm trying red clover this spring, been told its great for fattening lambs by quite a few who grow it

Westerwolds based mix, grows like stink, cheap and reliable to establish, multiple grazings, responds well to N.....
Tough to beat in this situation.......
