Ag chemicals back on Farm Marketplace

Noit long after launch we were put in a position where we had to withdraw the Ag chemicals from sale.

Long story cut short but seems existing supply and buying groups were not happy that the prices were below what they could get !

To make the system work for suppliers that want to sell via Farm Marketplace we have had to put in place something that trys to keep the prices and suppliers only for farmers to see.

The products are now back up and availble but to see them you will have to become a "verified farmer".

To do this

Register (email ad plus a password)

Then go to "my profile"

Fill out adress details and tick boxes / provide a holding number to proof you are a farmer

It then takes up to 24hrs for us to verify and upgrade your permissions so you can see and buy chemicals and in the future N fertilisers so check back the next day to see restricted view products and prices.

Still a limited amount of ag chem Products's on yet but seasonaly relevant and the prices are good (below the best of buying groups and proves you can get from a distributer over the phone).

Next month we hope to have completed a deal that will offer a full range of products and national delivery so keep checking back if what you want isnt there just yet.

Thanks and I hope you will suport this, if we can get some momentumn on Ag Chems there is a big opportunity to change the market and make in much more open and fair for us as farmers.

Can I buy fertilisers? I head they make a big boom!

no N yet but in the future I hope so. You can buy P / K now however ( fibrophos and Kalfos / pgrow)

when buying N or chemicals you will would be subject to the same (greater in fact) checks that you would have if buying from the same suppliers but by more traditional means

Why would you need sprays without a holding number

You shouldn't hense why we ask for it

It also places a barrier in the way of competitor distributer trade and manufacturer from seeing the prices - of course there are ways around that (ask a verified farmer etc). But same can be said for the secrecy that buying groups have that is a joke when prices are regularly posted on here and discussed in many private convo's

I could tell you the prices of most buying groups in the uk right now despite being a member of none of them !

In short it's actualy no longer possible to REALLY keep price secret so it's time the trade accepted this and moved on to a distribution system for the future with open pricing

You may want sprays for amenity or industrial use. It is not just farmers who have the PA certificates.

Amenity market is already well catered for online (have you seen how much they pay for glyphosate !!)

Farm marketplace is intended for professional farmer users when it comes to controlled products

All power to you Clive. I think its great. More choice all round. Everyone knows farmers prices for stuff so its good to work the other way

Thanks

It will only work if farmers support it and don't simply use it as a stick to beat up existing suppliers with

Really is a case of use it or loose it

Sorry we don't have national delivery or bigger productchoice yet but "from little acorns" and all that ......... at least the prices of what we do have is very good

Hopefully some news on national coverage and more product to come in the next month once harvest is out the way etc

When I looked in just now, without logging in, there are lots of herbicides listed (without prices). As soon as I log in, there are only 3. Are some still hidden from me? Have you heard about my spraying skills?

I was wondering yesterday why there is a drum of hypochlorite in the 'seed' section too.:scratchhead:

Hypochlorite sounds like an input error of catogory - I will fix that ! Thanks for letting me know

Chemicals that are priced are seasonaly relevant (can't see anyone wanting teb or ctl just now ?) Hopefully many more to come soon though

Sounds like the system is working well, logged out or unverified users can't see prices and logged in verified can see prices and buy the currently available products

I was looking for glyphosate, which is listed before I log in, but disappears as soon as I do.

Not currently available - we had some that could be listed but I didn't feel the price was good enough for marketplace

Working on getting better prices and availability soon as it's certainly the one big seasonal product that is missing right now
