Ag lime on sand beds?

Hi All,

Anyone put agricultural lime on sand beds before?

Round here, the two are about the same price, and both would run through sand dispenser.

Wondered if it could improve bed hygiene and help up pH of slurry at the same time?

Note, I'm talking about putting a few tonnes of lime on the sand beds as a one off then covered with sand, not doing away with sand altogether...

Cheers!

I tried it daily on the damp parts of the beds too dry up and kill bacteria, with sand on top I found I got a few cows with sores on the ends of there teats so stopped
