Big shows all the way provided they have plenty of agricultural content like the Royal Cornwall ( and I am in Devon). It's a day out and a chance to meet reps and discuss things over a cup of free tea, yes I know, not even the cheese in the mouse trap is free.
A good one day show down here is the Okehampton show, again plenty to see and a good mix.

Yes still some good shows down this way a good mix of stuff , like the shearing and i think when covid dies down a bit they will return ok .

mind you I must admit i love the Welsh shearing 'shed'

but Proper machinery demos/field days are better for that though, and specialist events like the NSA Sheep ones are best for specific technical subjects and Farmers only sort of ...

I think the ending started at least 40 years ago! tea
You may well be on the correct path,I was an annual visitor the "The Royal Show",usually both days, stayed locally with my wife & children.Great social event, meeting up with folk on an annual basis.Lunch in the "Governers Tent".Cream tea on the MF stand, yes I remember it,but unlikely to see it again in that format.

Speaking on the sheep side , they have ruined the breeds , huge overweight highly trimmed stock from breeders with a few pet sheep that commercially arnt the best , Some of The little local shows are the place to be these days with the exception of the Royal Cornwall that seems to still attract a variety of small dealers and a good cross section of stock .

There's always somebody moaning at the royal Welsh about it being too hot for the sheep, even though the sheds are open sided with fans blowing. The fact that the sheep have been shorn in January with four inches of wool and they're panting from being on ad lib grub all their life, POSSIBLY doesn't help🙄

Can someone tell me why sheep and cows udders are coloured a weird shade of orange at shows. Why? I have little sheep knowledge so maybe to a sheep farmer it looks beautiful but I do know cows and i don't think you can beat a lovely well presented clipped white udder showing off all the veins.
