In the House of Lords, the Agriculture Bill is creating rebellion and dissent on a large scale

The Conservative manifesto was clear on maintaining existing standards and that greenlights a rebellion by peers.

I feel sorry for the environment, all the hard work made towards making the countryside a greener, cleaner place will be lost in a race to the bottom. I thought this government had more commonsense .

Nobody is saying yet that the countryside will not remain cleaner and greener, only that they might be expecting us to still produce nice cheap inputs for the food industry, in spite of all the environmental legislation.
