Agricultural Matters scares me so I'll ask it here...

I guess there's a couple of things going on:
- Putting all those ingredients in a 'pork pie' is a way of telling/kidding folks that they are getting everything they need for a balanced diet, in a convenient way.
- More sinister, it's part of a calculated campaign to hyjack words like 'meat' and 'pork pie', with the end game being that the consumer ends up disassociating animal agriculture with those words.
Have you a list of ingredients in a factory made "traditional" pork pie?

That's the thing with farmers, they don't have a clue about how campaigning works. Instead of constantly slagging off Animal Rebellion etc, folks on here should take a minute to think about why they are wiping the floor, PR wise, with livestock ag.
Oooooooh.
Touchy or what?
I was just thinking that, as is typical in factory produced food, the probable only difference is that one pie contains meat and the other contains veg...both of which are produced by farmers.

Ingredients: Rehydrated textured soya protein, water, soya protein concentrate, palm oil, seasoning (sulphites, dextrose, salt, flavourings, onion powder, yeast extract, colour, red iron oxide) , rapeseed oil, rusk (fortified wheat flour, wheat flour, calcium carbonate, iron, niacin, thiamin), salt, raising agent, ammonium bicarbonate, stabilizer: methyl cellulose, tomato puree, salt.
Too long, didn't read: It's dust, isn't it?

Most vegan food is made of dust.

From what I can see, there is quite large vegan market out there that could be exploited by UK farmers.
My thoughts are. Why so much soya and palm oil from abroad when perfectly good protein and oil crops could be homegrown?

In the video the narrator says making plant based swaps a couple of times a week can help us reduce emissions. How does making a fake pie, with that long list of ingredients, reduce emissions?

The vegan market is very well catered for by UK farmers, carrots, parsnips, potatoes, cabbages, turnips, lettuce are a very small sample of vegan foods grown in the UK.
Why vilify the rest of us who want to produce meat and dairy locally while they import their quinoa and avacados from the other side of the world?

Isn't it, and hasn't it always been, about having a balanced diet, and not eating too much processed food ie: fake meat pies, sausages, meat balls etc with a list of ingredients as long as your arm? There seems to be a move towards prioritising emissions over personal health.

Promotion of a balanced diet doesn't make anyone money.
