Has anyone been swayed to buy a vehicle because of the reg. no ?
I went to look at a Jeep some years ago and the first thing I saw were my initials on the plate which tempted me. The number of warning lights on the dashboard put me off.
Some plates are 3- 8 k and a lot more so banger car don't matter as lot as sorn etc

I'm not saying the plate I'd like or Farmplates might get the price inflated on the current Sampson's auction !

No you can't put them on ag vehicles which is a shame as I thought it might make quads look older to the scumbags

So would it be possible to get the quad as a class 4 (for MOT purposes) put whatever plate you fancy on it and then get it re-classified as Ag. afterwards ?

My Disco 2 had my initials on it and everyone thought it was a personal plate. In fact I was looking at a row of identical ones for sale and decided that I might as well have that one as any other for luck. I quite like to see artic trucks with sets of relevant numbers in the fleet, I think they look professional. :)

I wanted a plate so my sports car was ageless. Saw one I fancied at a DVLA auction not too far away.
It was an all day auction and this one was due about 2 o clock got their about half one and had to register. A nice young lady was taking my details when she saw my mouth drop as the current one opened at about 50K. Dont worry she said they dont all make that. It was something like K1 IAN ( KHAN ) went on to £120K o_O.
Thankfully the one I was after only made hundreds, but I am told if I meet the right Chinese gentleman it could sell for a lot

i thought you could put one on an ag vehicle if it was done before its first registration (im assuming you bought your sprayer new)

Not according to them at Swansea, must go on a vehicle that has a ministry mot apparently.

The NROSO sprayer MOT doesn’t count :(

Thought I could have sold it on to a paint sprayer person or something, but didn’t bother. DVLA just refunded me.

I think it was about £280 at the time with fees.

I quite like some private numbers on cars. I’ve got to the stage where I recognise the number before the vehicle, as when they change their vehicles, they hold onto their number. It’s a bit like having a sign written van, you get to recognise who is turning up in your yard.

ive got a few,

dont forget though im a livestock farmer and a pauper so mine were the bargain DVLA ones which come with transfer fee etc few hundered a pop.

i just kept it simple and got my name handy being 3 letters...

i think the 'ewe' 'moo' ones aare good i might look out for one,

the ones posted are ridiculous...

and finally a fun story,

many years ago i went to buy a red 405 with the reg IJI 998, the seller tried to tell me it was work x amount i laughed and said keep it if you want it,

i got the car for its market value £1250 at the time, straight away i listed the plate forsale through some crap broker online,

i ended up swapping the plate to another car as everyone recognised it as mine, years later it finally sold through the broker and i got £750 winner winner chicken dinner!!!

Do a lot of haulage companies etc not buy number plates when they are having a good year as they will count against their tax liability, but are also easily traded on if they need ready cash?
