Not sure if this is the right place, but we currently live in an ag tie property, and wanted to speak to someone about getting the tie lifted, can anyone recommend a company?

I would of bought the plot with or without the tie.
Lots of people buy tied property and get them lifted, or so I’m led to believe.
Just can’t understand how it had a tie in the first place, think it was a case of who he knew.
Anyway that was my question, just wanted to speak to someone who specialises in ties/tie removal, and wanted recommendations from anyone who’s had experience?

One of the most annoying things ever, seeing ag ties lifted. Were put on for a purpose ,generally to gain planning permission where there would have been a struggle to get permission otherwise. (Possible generalisation but it makes me so cross)
Rant cut short .
Certainly not always the case. We have a dwelling with an ag tie on it yet the identical dwelling adjoining it which is newer does not. They are both barn conversions and can’t think of any good reason for it to have ever been there.
The occupants of the property do comply with ag tie requirements do satisfy the rules but about the only one around here that does, including almost new buildings.

Good luck with that in Cornwall. Neighbour has been trying to get a restriction lifted on a property. Has spent a large amount on professional advice but Council/planners playing hard ball.
Let’s hope you get on better and if you find a professional that gets it through easily for you please pass on the tip.

Doesn’t seem like there’s much consistency with it to me, the person got the planning only owned 1.9 acres, but was farming 300 acres of rented land 5 miles away.
Another person I know built on his own farm, no tie needed, but took 6 years to get planning, they farmed 500+ acres.

An Agricultural Tie may be put on for a specific purpose, if that purpose is no longer valid then then Agricultural Tie is no longer warranted. For example a dairy farm had a small cottage with an Ag Tie for the second milker but the farm has gone automated so a second milker is not required. Either the cottage stays empty or is released from the tie (or the description of the tie amended). Not all ties are generic.

Can you move it to another property?
In my experience this is a costly excersize and not often done now, BUT there are those who'll take your money on a feeble promise. I'd negotiate a no win no fee type of arrangement or a % on removal as you could be in for a long haul. IMO & Past life, and several years of trying to remove a tie from a lovely property that was worth considerable sums without the said tie, never got the removal....cost quite some £'s.....
In all honesty if you live there it doesn't really make that much difference as it will be 'market' value for an ag tied property always!
